2013 Zenato Ripasso
Valpolicella - Veneto Region, Northern Italy
On so many levels this wine is closely connected to the greatest wine of Valpolicella: Amarone. After pressing the dried grapes from which Amarone is made, the Valpolicella wine is passed (ripasso) over the still warm marc of Amarone. A second alcoholic fermentation begins which increases the alcoholic content and the wine becomes richer in colour, bouquet. This is Valpolicella on steroids. Warming, broody, built and lush.
This wine is part of our Valpolicella Italians Collection, a selection of three fantastic reds from the Valpolicella heartland. Watch the video below as Jay Bessell reviews all three wines.
