2015 Zenato Valpolicella

The Valpolicella is a series of four valleys north of Verona ventilated by air currents from Lake Garda and the Po Valley. Versatile in style, Valpolicella can as easily be made for drinking as a young, fresh, vibrant red, or as a fuller, rounder, long aged wine.

This collection delivers three fantastic reds from the Valpolicella heartland.

2015 Zenato Valpolicella
This is a classic example of a modern wine from the Valpolicella area. Made from Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone grapes, with aromatics of almond and violets and a warming flesh on the palate.

2014 Zenato Rosso Veronese Alanera
Using the standard grapes of Valpolicella, with added Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to allow roundness and structure. Clearly Italian on the nose, with deep ripe berry fruit and herbs, with dusty oak to finish.

2013 Zenato Ripasso
On so many levels this wine is closely connected to the greatest wine of Valpolicella: Amarone. After pressing the dried grapes from which Amarone is made, the Valpolicella wine is passed (ripasso) over the still warm marc of Amarone. A second alcoholic fermentation begins which increases the alcoholic content and the wine becomes richer in colour, bouquet. This is Valpolicella on steroids. Warming, broody, built and lush.

“That’s pretty amazing!”
