2017 Pago de Los Capellanes, Joven Tempranillo
Ribera del Duero, Spain
You can’t have an Spanish leaning wine list without Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero.
Grown at high altitude (850m) Tempranillo in this part of Spain has great depth and intensity but also maintains great freshness with an incredible chewy, chalky texture.
The winery has capped production which guarantees the quality of the product isn’t diluted. This “Joven” (young) wine only spends 6 months in oak so the fruit is really vibrant and up front. One of the leading producers in Ribera del Duero.
Australia only gets an allocation of 50 dozen a year and we are lucky enough to have it in the cellar at the moment.
