2016 Frankland Estate Cabernet
Great Southern, Western Australia
Vineyard/Year: Frankland Estate/ 2016
Being poured at: Longrain
In a 1955 study of potential grapegrowing sites, renowned Californian viticulturalist Dr Harold Olmo identified Frankland River as one of the most promising prospects in Australia. The wines of Frankland Estate prove he was right.
Hand-picked grapes from the Isolation Ridge vineyard were fermented as long and slowly as possible, at temperatures not exceeding 26°C in open pot fermentation tanks that allowed the cap to be worked by plunging and an extended maceration period allowed optimal colour, flavour and tannin extraction.
