2020 Brezza Barolo is bright garnet in colour – there’s a heady perfume of poached strawberry, plum, faded roses and baking spice, and liquorice. The palate shows excellent depth of flavour, the balance of fruit sweetness and savoury elements impeccable, blood orange acidity keeping things fresh and vibrant, the tannins sleek and mouth-coating. It all culminates in a long, lingering finish.
Among the different types of Barolo that the family produces this is the one that is immediately appreciated by the consumer and for the first time faces the varied landscape of this wine. Despite being a less complex Barolo it is better to consume this wine at a younger age given its expressive nose and excellent elegance even in its youth.
