I’ve worked in Melbourne hospitality for years, from Marios to Movida. I’ve always loved the service in these iconic restaurants, where first-time customers are treated like regulars, and regulars are treated like royalty.
I’ve also operated espresso bars in the CBD, where I knew the name, coffee order and life story of almost every customer. After work I’d sometimes swing by this one small bar for a glass of wine. The owner was always telling patrons about amazing wines, but the place was too small to stock them all.
That’s how I got the idea for The Local Drop, a specialist wine purveyor and sommelier service and online wine club with the service of a hatted restaurant and the familiarity of your local cafe.
Over the years we have been lucky enough to share our passion for wine through wine tastings, dinner and events for our clients. We curate wine lists for weddings and corporate boardrooms, and specialise in organising personalised tours of Victoria’s wine regions.
We love sourcing wines from around the world and of course focusing on boutique, high quality producers in Australia, including old and rare wines – happily shipping what we find to all corners of Australia and around the globe.
